Job Description

 

Dump Truck Driver – Full Time

Since 1949 Smith Ready Mix, Inc. has been a leading producer of ready mix concrete in Northern Indiana and is dedicated to the highest quality and service in the industry. We have immediate openings for dump truck drivers at our New Carlisle and South Bend, IN locations.

All jobs are union jobs with competitive wages and benefits.

Description:

• Safely operate truck in accordance with all applicable Federal, state, and company regulations.

• Efficiently load and deliver product to customer striving to provide quality and good customer service.

• Follow procedures to ensure truck is safe to operate. When not performing driving duties assist with plant maintenance, cleanup and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Complete required pre and post trip inspections reporting necessary maintenance as required.

• Complete all forms, tickets and required paperwork in a timely manner.

• Keep inside and outside of truck clean.

• Communicate with dispatch, maintenance and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service.

Requirements:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent education.

• Class A CDL license with air brake endorsement.

• Must be able to pass DOT medical examination.

• At least one year dump truck experience

• The ability to climb, bend and stoop.

• Good driving record to maintain insurability.

• The ability to read and write English.

• Legible writing.

• Must be dependable, well organized, safety minded, and have efficient work habits.

• Basic Math skills.

• Basic vehicle maintenance skills.
