Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Scheduler in the Surgery department, you will act as a principle coordinator of communication with physicians, their offices, and hospital staff. You will schedule cases for surgical services to ensure efficient progression of scheduled cases. You will answer phones, organize and prepare the surgery schedule for the next day, and complete other assigned clerical duties.

  • You will ensure appropriate resources are available for the scheduled procedure
  • You will audit physician suspended list and verify physician privileges
  • You will ensure correct procedure selection for surgical and endoscopic procedures
  • You will obtain and enter patient demographic information
  • You will communicate and coordinate between facility needs to all scheduling parties and departments
  • You will be responsible for faxing and/or delivering orders
  • You will notify appropriate personnel of any special requests for procedures

Job Requirements

Experience

Proficiency in medical terminology

Previous experience as a Surgical Technician – preferred

Previous surgical scheduling experience – preferred

Education

High school graduate or GED equivalent

Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – preferred
